Reliance Jio has achieved a historic milestone — crossing 200 million 5G subscribers in just 18 months since its commercial launch. Industry analysts confirm this is the fastest 5G adoption by any single telecom operator globally, eclipsing even the pace set by Chinese carriers.
Jio's True 5G network, which operates exclusively on standalone 5G architecture (not NSA like most global operators), now covers 99% of urban India and is rapidly expanding into tier-2 and tier-3 cities and rural areas.
Average 5G download speeds on Jio's network have been clocked at 400-600 Mbps in urban centres, with latency as low as 8ms — numbers that rival South Korea and Japan, the traditional leaders in 5G performance.
"We will have the most affordable and the fastest 5G on the planet," Mukesh Ambani had pledged at the launch. The data backs that up — Jio's 5G plans start at Rs 199/month, a fraction of what consumers pay in the US or Europe.
The company is also aggressively building its 5G-enabled enterprise services division, targeting smart manufacturing, precision agriculture, and connected healthcare — markets worth an estimated $40 billion in India by 2030.
